Update Instructions
To add a model to your receiver without changing the firmware:
- Obtain an authorization code from the Registered Services section of our website.
- Send the following command using GPSolution or Hyperterminal:
AUTH <auth code>
Where <auth code> is your new authorization code with the commas replaced by spaces.
Please note that a maximum of 5 authorization codes can be entered into the receiver. An authorization code will have to be removed if there are already 5 stored. You can use the command LOG VALIDMODELS to check how many authorization codes/models currently exist on your GPS receiver.
To update your firmware to the latest version:
- Download the latest version of firmware from the Firmware/Software Updates page.
- Extract the file to a directory that is easy to access for you.
- Follow the instructions given in the “Howto.txt” file provided with the firmware carefully.
Please note that updating the firmware removes all models currently stored on the GPS receiver and replaces them with the new loaded model.
Previous versions of receiver firmware can be downloaded from our FTP site at ftp://ftp.novatel.ca/outgoing/support/Software/OEM4. For instructions on accessing the FTP site, please click here.
Unzip Password
Most firmware update files are provided in a self-extracting zipped format. If you are prompted for a password when unzipping the files, please use the password “295-4900”.
Important Notes
-
Many of these archives' will unzip to the default directory "c:\unzip",
which may cause some installation files to be overwritten if you unzip
two of these archives consecutively. Please ensure that you specify a
unique unzip directory if you choose to unzip more than one OEM4
archive at a time.
- Please refer to the "howto.txt" files for detailed instructions on how to load this new firmware into your receiver.
- Please be sure to read the "whatsnew.txt" files for information on changes in this new firmware release.
