How to reset your locked serial ports back to their factory defaults:

 Copy the enclosed special version of the LOADER.EXE program to your PC's
 hard drive, shell to DOS, navigate to the directory where you saved this
 LOADER.EXE, connect COM1 of the GPS receiver to COM1 of your PC with a null
 modem cable, have power ready for the GPS receiver but do not plug it in
 yet, and then enter this command at the DOS prompt:

 LOADER -NVM -P1

 Follow the on-screen instructions, and this should reset your GPS receiver
 back to its factory defaults.

 You should then be able to communicate with the GPS receiver on either
 comport at 9600 baud, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit, no parity, and no handshaking.
